Playboy Hires First-Ever CRO and Digital Content Executive

The two new roles illustrate a changing business model for the brand.

Playboy Enterprises, Inc. announced the hiring of two key executives for two brand new roles. Matthew Mastrangelo has been named as chief revenue officer and Cory Jones has been tapped as senior vice president of digital content.

Mastrangelo will be tasked in developing integrated packages that will boost revenue across print, digital and events. He joins the brand with a formidable resume, including stops at large-scale brands like SELF, Rolling Stone and Men’s Journal.

“Matt brings with him a wealth of experience and success across multiple print and digital titles,” David Israel, president of media at Playboy, says in a statement. “We will look for him to lead our sales force and closely collaborate with our creative and editorial teams as we continue to expand our digital media offerings, evolve the magazine and create one of a kind events for our partners.”

Jones is joining the company to oversee an expanding digital portfolio. In addition to bolstering iPlayboy, and Miss Social, Jones will also spearhead other initiatives like the brand’s newest property. He joins the company from, where he was editor-in-chief. And before that he had stints at Maxim and Defy Media.

“Cory is one of the most ingenious content creators in our business,” according to Jimmy Jellinek, chief content officer and editorial director in a statement. “As we refocus our digital strategy I can think of no better executive to have watching over our digital portfolio. ”
